Why Doors Come Off Track
- A snapped lift cable lets one side drop while the other stays up.
- Backing into the door bends the track or bottom bracket.
- An obstruction such as a trash can, ladder or bike blocks one side as it closes.
- Worn rollers or loose track bolts allow the roller stems to jump the rail.
- Rusty or dry cables fray, then unwind unevenly off the drum — very common in humid Gulf Coast air.
Our Off-Track Repair Process
- Secure and support the door, release spring tension safely.
- Re-seat rollers, straighten or replace bent track sections and brackets.
- Replace both lift cables, never just one, and re-spool the drums evenly.
- Re-tension springs and check balance by hand at the halfway point.
- Re-align photo-eye sensors, reset opener force, cycle-test the door.
